Items We Accept

These are our general guidelines for accepting furniture and decor on consignment. If the items you wish
to consign are not covered by these guidelines, please call us to discuss the acceptability of your specific
items.

Please understand that we are very particular concerning the condition of the items we can accept.

Resale Living accepts furnishings that are in "like new" condition and typically less than 10 years of age.
The items must be of a good quality construction, have minimal wear and tear, and is of a style that would
be of interest to a large number of customers.

We will occasionally make exceptions to the age requirements if the items are in "like new" condition, all
the following conditions are met, and if we believe there is a demand for the particular style.

Case Goods (Tables, Bookcases, Bedroom Furniture, etc)

  • 10 years old or newer (exceptions made on a case-by-case basis).
  • Solid wood construction preferred, although veneered plywood or engineered wood items will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be from a smoke-free and pet-free home.
  • The finish and paint on solid surfaces must be consistent over all the surfaces (especially the primary surfaces such as top and front), and well maintained with no watermarks, no discoloration or fading, no (or very minor) scratches, or other noticeable flaws (a "noticeable flaw" is one which can be seen at a distance of 2 feet or more under bright lighting).
  • Legs and frame must be sturdy with no wobble.
  • Glass & mirrors must be free of scratches and chips.
  • No broken or missing hardware/pieces. Doors and drawers must operate smoothly and close correctly.
  • Antique furniture which has been meticulously maintained or recently restored, and are in like new will be considered.

Upholstered Furniture (Sofas, Chairs, Recliners, etc.)

  • Typically 10 years old or newer.
  • Must be an identifiable brand name or custom upholstered.
  • Cushions and pillows must show no sagging or be out of shape.
  • Upholstery must be absolutely clean, no apparent wear, and odor free. No stains. No faded or sun bleached areas. No pet hair. No tears.
  • Legs and frame must be sturdy with no wobble.
  • Mechanical movements must operate smoothly (i.e. recliners, hide-a-beds, massage chairs).
  • No vintage or antique upholstered goods.

Artwork (must be in perfect condition, and be able to price at $50 or more)

  • 10 years old or newer.
  • No fading or degradation of coloring.
  • 36" Minimum dimension (either height or width).
  • Artwork and matting must be free of any moisture damage (waviness or warping).
  • Frames must be free of any damage.
  • The hanging apparatus must be sturdy (not loose, and no string).
  • Glass must be free of scratches.

Other Décor (must be in flawless condition, current styles, and be able to price at $25 or more)

  • Art and Sculptures
  • Lamps
  • Mirrors
  • Large Decorator Vases / Bowls
  • Candle Holders
  • Coat Racks
  • Wall Clocks

Items We Do NOT Accept

  • Glass top dining tables
  • Lamps without shades (or shades which have yellowed)
  • Cribs or toddler beds
  • Carriage Lights or other general light fixtures
  • Anything in need of repair or refinishing
  • Appliances: Large or Small
  • Dining Tables without chairs
  • Dining Chairs without tables
  • Collectables (Angels, Villages, etc)
  • Candles that have been lit
  • Plastic Storage Units
  • Bathroom Accessories
  • China / Flatware / Silver
  • Coffee Mugs / Drinking Glasses
  • Pots / Pans/ Cookware
  • Jewelry
  • Crystal

Entertainment Centers

Due to the vast number of people purchasing large, flat screen televisions, there is little demand for traditional style entertainment centers that are designed for picture-tube style T.V.'s. Therefore, we are no longer accepting them on consignment. Media centers designed for flat-screen T.V.'s 52" or larger are in demand, and we would be interested in accepting those on consignment.
